This house was originally built in the 1950's and added to in the 1980's, it's fair to say that the layout of this abode was a tricky renovation. With bedrooms down stairs in the original part of the house, the entrance and hall area was dark and lacked flow. There was an unused central space that was fast becoming a storage area. By opening up the staircase with vertical timber and knocking out a central wall, the transformation of this space is amazing. A cavity slider creates a nook for a laundry. The unused space has now been opened up as a day room with couch and bi-fold doors out to the back garden. Upstairs, carpet was removed to reveal beautiful Matai flooring. Sanded and polished it has come up a treat. A generous modular couch was custom made for the lounge area with open plan dining and kitchen. The lounge opens via bi-folds to a large upstairs balcony. With my clients wanting to keep the space simple and clean looking we went for whites, greys and earthy tones. Texture was added with cowhide and fibrous rugs, cushions and throws. Some timeless classic pieces of furniture were added to warm and personalise the space. The main family bathroom and master ensuite were gutted and updated with fresh white and grey tiles. Simple stylish basins with state of the art tapware have moved both of these bathrooms into the modern day.
